Jesus instructed believers to serve God by serving others. From the very beginning, the Brethren have found the joy in loving God through service. It is one of the ways we can express our gratitude for the gift of God's grace.
Today the body of Christ at Oak Grove Church reaches out to the community in many ways. Some of our areas of ministry are:
- Project WARM - split and deliver fire wood to needy persons
- Interfaith Hospitality Network - join other denominations to house, feed and give other support for temporarily homeless
- Rescue Mission - support for the homeless and the addiction recovery program; clothing and household donations; Bible Study classes
- Feed Hungry - assist our sister church with food distribution
- Brethren Disaster Ministries - work with Red Cross and FEMA to provide child care; help rebuild homes
- Salvation Army - work in the Christmas store; provide stockings and angel gifts; clothing and household donations
- Good Samaritan Fund - provide food/help for sudden needs
- A Greater Gift (SERRV) - sale of items made by third world countries
- Habitat House - help build houses and provide family support
- Financial Help - Heifer International, West End Center after-school program, Tools for Hope; Blankets for homeless in other countries; CROP; On Earth Peace; Interfaith Hospitality Network; Global Food Crisis Fund; Second Harvest Food Bank; One Great Hour of Sharing; Chaplaincy Fund; Roanoke Area Ministries; Local food bank; Jail ministry; Seminary support.
