Pastors for Peace – April 30

For many years, the Roanoke Friends Meeting sponsored the Pastors for Peace caravan, which drove throughout the country collecting humanitarian aid for Cuba. Besides collecting and delivering the aid to the Cuban people, the second purpose of the caravan was to protest the US travel ban and trade embargo against Cuba. And for many of these years, Oak Grove CoB hosted the potluck and pro- gram for the Pastors for Peace delegation.
With the steps toward normalization of relations with Cuba, the program is different this year. During the last two weeks of April a delegation of Pastors for Peace staff will be touring the country to up- date us on the status of the normalization process and to solicit volunteers to go to Cuba in July. On that trip, volunteers will go to see the damage and restoration work from Hurricane Matthew. They will also go to the border with Guantanamo.
Roanoke Friends Meeting will host Pastors for Peace on Sunday, April 30, with a potluck at 6:00 p.m., followed by a program. Their meeting house is located at 505 Day Ave. You are invited to join them for an enjoyable and informative program.
